3devo's new Filament Maker X10 is a closed-loop extrusion system designed to run 24/7, turning powder, regrind, or pellets into finished filament spools without constant supervision.
3devo is targeting print farms and material developers with its new Filament Maker X10. The system is built to turn powder, regrind, or pellets into finished filament spool without an operator standing next to it. The company says the X10 runs 24/7 and holds diameter tolerance within plus or minus 30 micrometers over multi-hour production runs.
The X10 is a significant step up from 3devo's earlier Filament Maker TWO. Where the TWO was aimed at bench-scale material testing, the X10 is designed for production throughput. It extrudes up to 1.5 kg of filament per hour and can process a wide range of materials, from PLA and PETG to PEEK and PEKK, including abrasive filled compounds with carbon fiber, ceramic, or metal powder.
A 2.8 meter cooling path sits between the nozzle and the winder. That length gives the filament time to solidify gradually, which reduces stretching and makes low-viscosity and recycled materials easier to run at speed. The extruder uses a hardened DC53 tool steel screw rated for high temperatures and abrasive inputs, and the system accepts E3D nozzles in copper-nickel or hardened tool steel.
The X10 also includes a 7.25 liter SmartFlow Hopper with a vibration feeder that handles powders, regrinds, and pellets. An inline 3-axis filament sensor takes more than 25 measurements per second, and the closed-loop control adjusts extrusion in real time to hold the set diameter. The winder locks automatically and detects spool fullness. Users can monitor and adjust settings remotely over Ethernet.
3devo tested the X10 across 15 machines and six pilot customers, processing more than 2,000 kg of MJF powder waste in-house. The company says the system is already validated for continuous PEEK runs. Pricing and availability are listed on 3devo's website, with live demonstrations scheduled through late 2026.
