A sunglasses clip, a grit guard, and a fry holder cost pennies to print and beat waiting for delivery.

Your Car Is Full of Cheap Prints

You do not need to wait three days for Amazon to deliver a $12 phone mount. Your car interior is full of small plastic items that cost less to print than to buy, and most finish in under an hour on the machine.

Sun Visor Sunglasses Clip

Start with something simple. A sunglasses clip attaches to your sun visor and holds your glasses within reach. The print takes about 30 minutes. Use PETG, ASA, or ABS, not PLA. A car interior can hit 50C in summer, and PLA softens well below that. PETG handles the heat without warping.

There are dozens of free models on MakerWorld. Pick one with a slight curve to grip the visor. A raft and supports usually are not needed.

Bucket Grit Guard

If you wash your car at home, you already know the problem. Your wash mitt drags grit from the bucket bottom across the paint, leaving micro-scratches. A grit guard sits at the bottom of the bucket and keeps the dirt below the mitt.

The design is a simple hexagonal grid. Print it in PETG or nylon for flexibility. One print lasts years and costs about twenty cents in filament.

Vent-Mounted Sauce and Fry Holders

Drive-through runs get messy. A vent-mounted sauce holder keeps your dipping sauce upright and within reach. A cupholder fry holder gives your fries a home that is not between your legs.

Both models print in under an hour. The sauce holder clips onto standard HVAC vents. The fry holder drops into any cup holder. Print them in PLA if the car stays out of direct sun, otherwise PETG is safer.

Air Vent Phone Mount

Phone mounts are everywhere on Amazon, but they all cost more than the plastic they use. A 3D printed vent mount costs pennies and prints in 45 minutes. Look for a model with adjustable arms so it fits different phone sizes.

The trick is tolerances. Print the first one at 0.2mm layer height. If it is too tight or too loose, scale it 1% or 2% in your slicer and print again. You will have a perfect fit after two tries.

The Bottom Line

These four prints take less than four hours of machine time total. Filament cost is under $2. The convenience of having exactly what you need, when you need it, is worth more than the price of waiting for delivery.
