Bambu Lab says its bug bounty program, new certifications, and IoT security alignment have hardened its cloud and firmware over the past twelve months.

Bambu Lab has published an update on its cybersecurity and privacy efforts, one year after launching its Trust Center and Bug Bounty Program. The company now holds ISO 27001, ISO 27701, and TRUSTe Enterprise Privacy certifications, and has aligned its products with the ETSI EN 303 645 standard for consumer IoT devices.

The update covers several concrete changes. Bambu Lab's Bug Bounty Program rewards security researchers who report vulnerabilities in its printers, firmware, or cloud infrastructure. The company says it has reviewed and fixed issues reported through the program, though specific counts were not disclosed. A new Security Update page documents individual patches.

Regulatory alignment is another focus. Bambu Lab says its products now meet Article 3.3(d) and 3.3(e) of the EU Radio Equipment Directive, Australia's Cyber Security Act requirements, and the UK's PSTI legislation. These rules govern secure-by-design defaults for connected devices sold in those markets.

The company also redesigned its vulnerability management workflow. According to Bambu Lab, the new process is meant to ensure devices receive security updates faster after a fix is ready. Whether users actually install those updates depends on whether they allow over-the-air firmware pushes, a setting many enthusiasts disable anyway.

These moves come after a turbulent 2025. Bambu Lab faced criticism over cloud connectivity, remote deactivation capabilities, and its handling of third-party slicer modifications. The Trust Center, Bug Bounty Program, and certification push appear aimed at restoring confidence among users who kept the printers but blocked their internet access.

Whether the efforts change minds remains to be seen. The certifications and bounty program are meaningful steps. For users who want local control, the real test is whether Bambu Lab continues to support LAN-only mode and open slicer compatibility.
