Bambu Lab is retiring two AI-powered MakerLab tools on September 20, 2026, with no direct replacements announced yet.
Bambu Lab confirmed this week that it will discontinue two artificial intelligence tools inside its MakerWorld platform. PrintMon Maker and AI Scanner, both part of the MakerLab section, will go offline on September 20, 2026.
The company says the current versions can no longer meet community expectations for output quality and user experience. After that date, users will still be able to view existing projects through saved links, but they will not be able to create new ones, generate new AI content, or edit old projects.
PrintMon Maker let users generate 3D-printable creatures from text prompts or reference images. AI Scanner was designed to turn physical objects into digital 3D models. Both tools attracted hobbyists who wanted quick results without modeling from scratch, but the quality of their output apparently did not keep pace with what Bambu Lab's users now expect.
In the shutdown notice posted to MakerWorld, the team thanked early adopters and hinted that replacement tools are in development: "Farewells are not the end," they wrote. "More powerful and refined tools are on the way." No timeline or feature preview accompanied that promise.
The move leaves Bambu Lab's MakerWorld without any AI generation tools until the next release. Competitor platforms such as Tripo AI and 3dverse have been expanding their own generative 3D offerings, so the gap could matter to users who treat MakerWorld as their primary model repository.
If you have saved projects in PrintMon Maker or AI Scanner, download or export them before September 20. After shutdown, the creation interface disappears and editing stops working, though existing project links remain accessible.
