Eaton Expands Global AM Footprint to Europe

Intelligent power management company Eaton has opened a European Centre of Additive Manufacturing at its aerospace manufacturing campus in Wimborne, UK, marking the company's third global additive manufacturing site and second dedicated to aerospace production.

The new facility integrates design, engineering, metal printing, and validation in a single environment, supporting the production of certified aerospace components for commercial aviation, defense, and aftermarket customers across Europe.

From Design to Production in One Location

"By expanding our additive manufacturing capabilities in Europe, we're enabling customers to move faster from design to production of certified components," said Tomasina Bailey, vice president of engineering at Eaton's Aerospace Group. "With deep engineering expertise and integrated capabilities, Eaton is setting the standard for scaling additive in aerospace — delivering the performance, reliability and design flexibility customers need to deliver next generation platforms at scale."

The center is anchored by Eaton's largest metal additive manufacturing system, capable of delivering up to twice the productivity of previous platforms. The company anticipates using titanium and electron beam additive processes and is working towards achieving AS9100 aerospace quality certification.

Supply Chain Resilience Through Regional Production

Eaton's global manufacturing network spans multiple regions, providing dual-sourced, regionally aligned solutions. The European center strengthens supply chain resilience by enabling more production to take place closer to European customers, reducing logistical delays and ensuring business continuity for critical aerospace programs.

"Eaton expects to expand the facility's capabilities to further boost its ability to support high-reliability commercial and military programs at scale," said Mike York, director of additive manufacturing and digital design at Eaton's Aerospace Group.

Eaton's expansion reflects a broader trend in aerospace: additive manufacturing is moving from prototyping to production-scale manufacturing. The ability to produce lighter, more efficient components while reducing material usage and minimizing tooling needs positions AM as a critical technology for next-generation aircraft platforms.

With $27.4 billion in 2025 revenues and operations in 180 countries, Eaton's investment in European AM capacity signals strong confidence in the long-term growth of additive manufacturing in aerospace.
