Austin-based Electroninks is bringing its conductive ink and EMI shielding technology to Japanese electronics makers through a new manufacturing partnership with SIIX Corporation.
A US-Japan manufacturing partnership
Electroninks, the Austin-based maker of conductive inks for 3D printed electronics, has expanded its presence in Japan through a new collaboration with SIIX Corporation. The partnership focuses on electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding solutions built with Electroninks' conductive materials and SIIX's ultrasonic spray coating environment.
SIIX is a leading Japanese electronic manufacturing services provider. Under the deal, SIIX will distribute Electroninks' materials and processes in Japan while contributing specialized spray coating equipment that enables more flexible EMI shielding designs than traditional methods.
Beyond one-size-fits-all
Unlike many materials suppliers who push a standard product, Electroninks and SIIX plan to work with customers on a case-by-case basis. The idea is to prototype production methods and material formulations together, then scale up once the preferred workflow is proven. Automotive electronics is cited as an early target market.
Electroninks has been refining its own spray-coating capabilities in-house, and this partnership gives it a ready-made production environment in Japan to test those methods at volume.
Part of a broader push
The SIIX deal follows two other recent announcements from Electroninks: a new US Air Force contract for on-demand PCB manufacturing and an entry into the Indian market. Taken together, the moves show a company spreading its customer base across geographies and industries.
The timing also reflects growing demand for EMI shielding as electronics grow denser and operate at higher frequencies. Takashi Mochizuki, director of sales and business development at Electroninks, said EMI shielding is evolving from a component-level concern into a system-level engineering challenge. The collaboration aims to address that shift by combining advanced conductive materials with global manufacturing expertise.
Why it matters for 3D printing
3D printed electronics still occupy a small corner of the broader additive manufacturing market, but functional materials like conductive inks and EMI coatings are among the most commercially viable applications. If Electroninks and SIIX can turn prototyping workflows into repeatable high-volume processes, it would give 3D printed electronics a clearer path into mainstream manufacturing.
