eSUN is now selling three PLA options in the US through Amazon: general-purpose PLA, tougher PLA+, and budget Basic PLA.

A filament brand splits its lineup

eSUN has shipped an expanded PLA filament range to US customers through Amazon. The company now offers three distinct tiers: standard PLA Filament, PLA+, and Basic PLA.

The split lets buyers choose material behavior instead of buying one catch-all spool. Standard PLA covers everyday prints and prototypes. PLA+ adds impact resistance and better layer adhesion for functional parts. Basic PLA targets beginners, educators, and high-volume routine jobs.

What the tiers actually mean

PLA dominates desktop FDM printing because it is forgiving and smells mild compared to ABS. But not all PLA is the same. PLA+ typically prints at similar temperatures while producing stronger parts that flex less before breaking. Basic PLA is formulated for smooth flow at higher speeds and lower cost per kilogram.

eSUN already sells PETG, ABS, TPU, and resin lines. This launch does not introduce new chemistry. It organizes existing PLA products by user need and announces US availability through Amazon.

Why it matters now

The US desktop 3D printing market keeps growing. Retailers are stocking more filament brands. eSUN's three-tier move mirrors what other material companies have done with PLA: separate casual users from performance buyers without confusing SKUs.

For makers, the choice is simple. Beginner or classroom use points to Basic PLA. Functional hinges and snap-fits point to PLA+. Anything else can use standard PLA at the lowest price point.
