The HeyGears G1X raised $15 million on Kickstarter for a desktop printer that outputs full-color 3D models and UV prints on everyday materials.
What the G1X Does
HeyGears has raised $15 million on Kickstarter for the G1X, a desktop machine that prints full-color 3D models and UV-cured designs on more than 400 materials. That includes wood, metal, stone, ceramics, plastics, canvas, and glass. The campaign closed with global backing from creators, artists, and small print shops.
The printer targets anyone who wants finished-looking models without hand-painting. A built-in Epson printhead with 3,200 nozzles and eight ink channels delivers more than 10 million colors at up to 1,440 x 2,400 DPI. Layer thickness ranges from 10 to 20 microns. Water-soluble supports dissolve in water, leaving a smooth finished part.
3D Printing Plus Texture and UV
The G1X does more than flat color. It can layer UV-cured textures up to 5 mm tall, mimicking leather grain, wood carving, or oil painting brush strokes. A rotary attachment handles tumblers and bottles. The machine also runs 2D UV printing for phone cases, keychains, coasters, and apparel using a water-based ink set.
Build volume measures 330 x 130 x 420 mm, with support for two different print beds. Desktop software on Windows and Mac handles AI modeling from text prompts, model library access, and print management. A mobile app controls jobs remotely. An air filtration system and automatic cleaning cycles reduce maintenance.
Price and Shipping
Kickstarter pricing starts at a yet-to-be-confirmed Super Early Bird rate. Orders are slated to ship worldwide in December 2026. Delivery costs start at $50 for the US, Canada, and Australia, with final rates set after the campaign ends. Crowdfunding always carries execution risk, though HeyGears has sold previous models and spent years developing this platform.
