Hike Medical closed a $22.5 million round to grow its AI-driven orthotics and prosthetics business, which already runs a 600-printer farm in Illinois.
Hike Medical has raised $22.5 million in seed and Series A funding to expand its vertically integrated orthotics and prosthetics platform. The round was led by Max Altman at Saga Ventures, with participation from Indicator Ventures, Fifth Down Capital, RiverPark Ventures, and strategic investor Orthofeet.
The San Francisco company started with custom foot orthotics and built its own end-to-end workflow. Patients scan their feet with a smartphone, AI generates a precise 3D model, and Hike prints the final device at its SoleForge facility in Peoria, Illinois. That facility now houses what Hike calls the largest orthotics 3D printing farm in the United States, with hundreds of printers running continuously.
The numbers are hard to ignore. Production times dropped from weeks to days, and remake rates fell from one in 15 devices to one in 400. The company works with major employers and health systems, including Intel and OSF Healthcare, and delivers finished orthotics in eight to ten days.
The new money will fund hiring in engineering, sales, and manufacturing in both San Francisco and Peoria. Hike also plans to extend beyond foot orthotics into broader prosthetics and durable medical equipment.
Co-founder and CEO Aadi Bhanti comes from three generations of orthotics clinicians. He said the company proved its model in custom foot orthotics and is now ready to own more of the device-based care market. The funding gives Hike the runway to do that without relying on outside manufacturers.
Hike's story matters for 3D printing because it is a rare example of the technology working at scale inside a regulated medical supply chain. The company uses FDM printers, not exotic metal or resin systems, which keeps costs down and maintenance predictable. That simplicity, combined with AI-driven ordering and domestic production, is what investors are betting on.
