HP launched its first industrial fused-filament 3D printer, the 600HT, aimed at PEEK, PAEK, and carbon-fiber applications in aerospace and medical markets.

HP made its name in industrial 3D printing with Multi Jet Fusion powder bed systems. After more than a decade focused on nylon and TPU powder, the company is shifting to filament. The HP Industrial Filament 600HT is its first fused filament fabrication machine built for production environments, and it targets a market HP has not touched before: high-temperature engineering polymers.

A Modular Machine for Advanced Materials

The 600HT is not a desktop printer dressed up for industrial use. It is a modular system with automated material drying, heated chambers, and a build envelope designed around advanced thermoplastics. Out of the box, the printer supports PEEK, PAEK, PEI, and carbon-fiber reinforced filaments, materials that need stable ambient temperatures above 100C to avoid warping and layer separation.

HP built the drying and environmental controls directly into the printer architecture. That eliminates the external dry boxes and makeshift enclosures many shops use today for PEEK prints. The system also includes material traceability features, which matters for regulated industries like aerospace and medical devices where a failed print can cost more than the machine itself.

Who Is This For?

The two most likely buyers are aerospace suppliers and medical device manufacturers who need small batches of custom parts. PEEK and PAEK parts are common in aircraft interiors, surgical instruments, and implantable devices. These materials resist sterilization, heat, and repeated stress better than standard nylon or ABS.

HP is pricing the 600HT as a production tool, not a lab experiment. The printer sits in a segment already occupied by German and Japanese manufacturers with decades of filament experience. HP is betting that its brand, service network, and MJF legacy will give it an opening.

Market Timing

The timing is deliberate. High-temperature filament printing has matured from a niche research activity into a repeatable production process over the last five years. Shops that already run PEEK on Stratasys orcustom machines are looking for alternatives as the market grows. HP is entering at the point where those shops need scalable options.

The 600HT also positions HP to sell a complete material ecosystem around the machine, similar to how it controls the supply chain around MJF. That model generates recurring revenue from certified materials, not just hardware sales.

What This Means for Buyers

For shops that already own MJF systems, the 600HT adds a filament option without forcing a vendor switch. For buyers evaluating their first industrial printer, it adds a credible new choice at a time when delivery windows for German-made machines can stretch past a year.

The real test will be print reliability and material certification. HP needs to prove that PEEK parts printed on the 600HT meet the same aerospace and medical standards that Stratasys and Markforged have spent years building.
