Italy's Kentstrapper launched the Mille, a 1,000mm-cubed FDM system with dual extruders, magnetic tool changes, and a 60C heated chamber. Starting at €40,000, it undercuts most industrial large-format options.
What the Mille actually is
Kentstrapper, a Florence-based manufacturer with more than a decade of industrial FDM experience, has officially launched the Mille. The headline number is the build volume: 1,000 x 1,000 x 1,000 mm. That is a full cubic meter of enclosed, actively heated build space, printed in filament rather than assembled from smaller sections.
The machine uses a rigid steel-frame Cartesian system with a 60C heated chamber and a build plate that reaches 120C across six independently controlled zones. An integrated scanner maps the bed before each print and applies automatic compensation. Kentstrapper says this setup keeps large parts stable: on pieces 800 mm or longer, temperature gradients between the base and upper sections can create internal stresses that warp even normally reliable materials like nylon carbon fiber.
Tool changing and material support
The Mille uses Kentstrapper's Mantis extruder paired with a Magnetic Extrusion System. Operators can swap toolheads in under 30 seconds without tools. Nozzle sizes range from 0.4 mm to 1.4 mm, and supported layer heights run from 0.1 mm to 1.2 mm. That range lets users switch between fine surface detail and thick, fast deposition for large structural parts.
Two extruders are fitted as standard. If one spool runs out or the filament feed jams, the second extruder can continue the same print without restarting. Kentstrapper lists PLA, PETG, ASA, ABS, TPU, ASA-CF, glass- and carbon-fiber nylon, PPS-CF, ESD-safe materials, and UL 94 V-0 certified filaments as supported.
Remote monitoring and AI support
Connectivity includes Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and USB. The printer runs custom Klipper firmware and uses a 10.1-inch HD touchscreen. Kentstrapper has built an encrypted Cloudflare tunnel for remote access, with two-step confirmation for write commands and an audit log of all activity. A Telegram bot sends print progress updates, including camera images, and can report status, temperatures, filament condition, and firmware version.
An on-board assistant called Clara handles basic troubleshooting. The company trained it on previous support tickets, so it can recognize known errors and guide users through fixes before they need to call a technician. Kentstrapper also uses the same connection to scan fleets for offline systems, print-blocking errors, and anomalous behavior, which means support can sometimes intervene before the customer notices a problem.
Price and positioning
The Mille starts at €40,000 excluding VAT, with shipping, duties, and local taxes added depending on region. Each unit is made to order in Florence. Kentstrapper is targeting automotive, marine, aerospace, defense, heavy engineering, and production-tooling customers. The company says the cost per large part runs between EUR 80 and EUR 250, compared with EUR 600 to EUR 2,000 through an external supplier or CNC house, and lead times drop from weeks to 24 to 72 hours.
BigRep's ONE.5 offers a similar 1,005 mm cube and dual-extruder setup, but Kentstrapper is competing on direct support, on-site training, and what it describes as simpler ownership. With more than 2,500 systems sold over ten years, the company is not new to industrial customers. The Mille simply scales that same approach up to full-meter dimensions.
