LDO Motion is selling a hardware kit for a fully 3D-printed Unimog U5023 tribute that uses more than 582 parts, functional portal axles, and a 750-page build guide.
The full-size kit from LDO Motion
If your printer has been sitting idle and you are looking for a project that will eat through an entire spool collection, LDO Motion has something worth considering. The MOG RC Truck Kit is a hardware bundle for a fully 3D-printed tribute to the Unimog U5023, the boxy off-road truck that Mercedes made famous. LDO says the project contains more than 582 printed parts spread across 101 pre-oriented plates, plus a build guide that runs past 750 pages.
What you actually get
The kit is sold as hardware only. The 3D model files come from designer Casadio and must be purchased separately on Cults3D, so budget for that on top of the $340 price tag. In the box you get the metal hardware, electronics, tires, and components that cannot be printed reliably at home. You can build the truck as a 6x6 or a 4x4, and choose between a flatbed or a camper body style. Minimum bed size is 180 x 180 mm, which means most desktop FDM printers can handle it.
Why it is more than a static model
The MOG is not a shelf ornament. It has functional portal axles, a realistic drivetrain, and four-link suspension on every corner. The rear axle is steerable, so the truck can crab-walk around tight trails. That level of engineering explains why the build guide is longer than some car service manuals.
The catch
This is a serious time investment. With 101 plates and 582-plus parts, you are looking at weeks of printing, assembly, and tuning before the truck rolls under its own power. LDO is clear that the kit is aimed at makers and RC enthusiasts who enjoy the build as much as the finished truck.
Price and availability
The LDO MOG Full 3D Printed RC Truck Kit lists for $339.99 through LDO Motion and select resellers. The separate digital files add extra cost, so factor that in before you order. If you want a long-term printing project with a drivable result, this is one of the most ambitious consumer kits available.
