The new Meshy 7 model leads competing systems on geometry alignment, measuring how closely a generated 3D model matches its source image.

Meshy has released Meshy 7, its new image-to-3D foundation model and the successor to Meshy 6. The update centers on geometry alignment: how faithfully the shape and proportions of a generated 3D model match the reference image it came from. The company also introduced a benchmark for measuring that alignment across three dimensions, and Meshy 7 scores higher than every model tested on single-view input.

What Geometry Alignment Means in Practice

Image-to-3D tools have reached a point where complete failures are uncommon. The more meaningful difference between models is now accuracy: whether a generated chair actually looks like the chair in the photo, whether parts end up in the right places, and whether surface details carry through. Meshy calls this geometry alignment, and it breaks the score into three components: overall proportion, spatial distribution, and surface details.

On single-view input, Meshy 7 scored 81.0% on overall proportion, 79.7% on spatial distribution, and 59.8% on surface details, leading all tested models on every metric. The comparison models included Meshy 6 Lite, Tripo 3.1, Hunyuan3D 3.1, Rodin 2.5, and Hi3D 2.1. On four-view input, Meshy 7 remained competitive but no longer led every category; Hi3D 2.1 took the top spot on overall proportion and surface details under that condition.

Where Meshy 7 Performs Best

Meshy says Meshy 7 is strongest on organic characters, including miniatures with expressive faces, text and pattern preservation, and hard-surface or mechanical parts. That covers a lot of what hobbyists and small production shops actually generate. Outputs export to STL, OBJ, 3MF, GLB, FBX, DXF, USDZ, and BLEND, with one-click import plugins for Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, Unity, Godot, and Unreal Engine.

Pricing and Access

Meshy 7 is now the default model on Meshy AI. Each generation costs 20 credits under the standard workflow. The Pro tier or above is required to download generated models; free users can generate but not export. Subscription pricing has not changed with the model upgrade.

Why It Matters

The bottleneck in AI-assisted 3D content creation has shifted from whether a usable model can be generated at all to whether it matches the reference closely enough to skip heavy cleanup. Meshy 7's improvements on geometry alignment reduce the time between concept and printable model, which matters for character miniatures, product mockups, and anyone generating assets for a 3D printing pipeline. The benchmark itself is also useful, because it gives the industry a shared standard for measuring how well these models actually perform instead of relying on subjective quality claims.
