xTool, EufyMake, and Morpho brought affordable UV printers to Open Sauce 2026, with prices starting at $1,699.

Open Sauce 2026 in San Mateo, California lived up to its reputation as the weirdest, most interesting maker event of the year. Among the custom bikes, robotics projects, and flash-cured resin experiments, one trend stood out: desktop UV printing is no longer just an industrial curiosity. Three companies showed consumer-ready machines on the show floor, with prices that small workshops can actually stomach.

What Is Desktop UV Printing?

UV flatbed printing uses ultraviolet-cured ink to deposit full-color graphics directly onto objects. It sits somewhere between a 2D photo printer and a resin 3D printer. The result is photographic color on almost any surface you can fit inside the print zone: phone cases, skateboard decks, stickers, even small 3D textures a few millimeters tall.

Industrial UV printers have existed for years, but they cost $50,000 or more. The push at Open Sauce was to bring that capability down to the $1,500 to $4,000 range.

xTool O1 Omni

xTool had the largest booth presence at Open Sauce, and the O1 Omni was the star. It is a four-in-one UV printer: flatbed graphics, rotary printing for bottles and tubes, DTF film printing for apparel, and full-color 3D texturing. The base model with a single UV head starts at $1,699. A fully loaded configuration with dual heads, rotary attachment, and DTF kit runs $3,969.

xTool is not a new company. It has spent years building a reputation in laser cutters and engravers. That experience shows in the O1 Omni's build quality and the surrounding ecosystem of materials and support. Review units are already on their way to tech publications, so expect a full hands-on assessment soon.

EufyMake E1

EufyMake, formerly AnkerMake, was actually the first company to ship a consumer UV printer. The E1 launched on Kickstarter and proved the concept, though supply chain issues delayed many backers. At Open Sauce, the E1 was on display and working.

The E1 targets the same small business and prosumer audience as xTool, but with a simpler feature set. It is a flatbed UV printer, not a multi-function system. For users who want photographic-quality prints on flat objects, that simplicity may be an advantage.

Morpho

Morpho is the least known of the three and possibly the most interesting. The startup operates out of a modest booth in the main hall, and its founder and CEO Brett Wang was there in person running demos. Wang was formerly VP of R&D and founder of DJI's camera division. That pedigree is hard to ignore: DJI dominated consumer drones by combining accessible pricing with genuinely good hardware, and Morpho appears to be aiming for the same playbook in UV printing.

The Morpho printer is open-source, which sets it apart from xTool and EufyMake. Users can modify hardware and software without voiding support. The machine can print textures up to 60mm high, which is well beyond what most desktop UV printers manage. A full review unit is expected as soon as the hardware is production-ready.

Is the Market Ready?

UV flatbed printers solve a real problem for small makers and businesses: full-color graphics on non-flat surfaces without the setup time and material limitations of traditional screen printing. The technology is proven. The remaining question is whether the software and material costs make sense for anyone outside commercial sign shops and product prototyping labs.

Epson printheads, which appear in multiple machines on the show floor, drive most of the current desktop UV offerings. Ink bottle systems from HeyGears and others have reduced the per-print cost compared to early cartridge-locked machines. That helps. Full-color 3D printing, which some of these machines claim to support, remains the more speculative application. The 2.5D texture work on flat and curved objects is where the immediate value is.

The bigger takeaway from Open Sauce is that UV printing is no longer confined to industrial shops. Prices have fallen, machines are shipping, and the open-source angle from Morpho could accelerate community development faster than any single company could. If you run a small workshop and have been watching UV printing from the sidelines, 2026 is the year to start paying attention.
