PharmaTher is teaming with Craft Health to evaluate 3D printed personalized peptides, targeting six compounds with customizable doses and release profiles.
A New Division for Personalized Peptides
PharmaTher Holdings, a Toronto-based specialty pharmaceutical company, has launched Personaliz3D Peptides, a division dedicated to developing and commercializing personalized peptide products using 3D printing and artificial intelligence. Within days of the announcement, PharmaTher revealed a collaboration with Singapore-based Craft Health to evaluate CraftMake as the manufacturing platform behind that strategy.
The partnership focuses on developing peptide formulations and testing CraftMake as a reproducible system for producing personalized doses, combination formulations, controlled-release designs, and alternative dosage forms.
Why Peptides, and Why Now
Peptides are short chains of amino acids that regulate tissue repair, inflammation, and hormone signaling. They have become a growing focus in medicine because they can target biological processes more precisely than small-molecule drugs.
Today, peptide compounding is largely limited to fixed doses and injectable or liquid formats. These are delivered through fragmented networks of prescribers, pharmacies, and technology providers. PharmaTher wants to offer an alternative: on-demand manufacturing that tailors dosage and release profiles to an individual patient.
The timing is not accidental. The FDA's Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee recently voted to recommend six peptides for inclusion on the Section 503A Bulks List: BPC-157, KPV, TB-500, MOTS-c, Epitalon, and Semax. The recommendation is advisory and non-binding, but it signals potential movement toward a regulated framework for compounded peptide medicines in the United States.
How CraftMake Prints Peptides
CraftMake uses semi-solid paste extrusion at room temperature, without heat or UV-light curing. The printer supports single-material, multi-material, and pill-in-pill builds, enabling taste-masking and sequential-release designs within a single dose.
Craft Health's GMP-oriented configuration, CraftMake Production Plus, adds an enclosed printing environment and dual printheads capable of depositing two materials concurrently. The company reports dosing accuracy of approximately plus or minus 1 percent and repeatability greater than 99 percent.
The hardware pairs with CraftControl software, which manages print workflows, and CraftBlends, Craft Health's library of proprietary printable formulations. Together, the components form an integrated hardware-software-formulation stack.
The Market Opportunity
Pharmaceutical 3D printing has been edging from research settings toward regulated, on-demand production. Analysts expect that shift to show up in market size: Future Market Insights projects the global 3D printed drugs market will grow from roughly USD 435.8 million in 2026 to USD 1.1 billion by 2036, a 9.8 percent compound annual growth rate.
For the additive manufacturing industry, the PharmaTher collaboration is another signal that extrusion-based 3D printing is finding a practical foothold in regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing, beyond the tablet-printing pilots that have defined the category so far.
What Comes Next
PharmaTher and Craft Health plan to evaluate the six PCAC-recommended peptides across a range of dosage formats and release profiles, including oral thin films and gummies. PharmaTher also intends to explore a broader commercial relationship that could bring CraftMake systems into qualified pharmacies.
If the trials succeed, patients could one day walk into a compounding pharmacy and receive a 3D printed peptide dose calibrated to their weight, metabolism, and treatment schedule. That is still a few regulatory steps away, but the machinery for it is now being tested.
