Polymaker's new HT-PLA Pro doubles impact strength and fixes the brittleness that has always held heat-stable PLA back.
Polymaker just made heat-stable PLA useful
HT-PLA has always been a compromise. It holds its shape at higher temperatures than standard PLA, but it is brittle and layers peel apart under stress. Polymaker says HT-PLA Pro ends that trade-off.
The new filament combines two Polymaker technologies: nano reinforcement and heat stability. Against regular HT-PLA the numbers are striking. Notched Charpy impact strength more than doubles, from 4.94 kJ/m2 to 9.94 kJ/m2. Layer adhesion improves by about 30 percent, with Z-tensile strength climbing from 20.8 MPa to 26.8 MPa.
Heat performance stays where the HT-PLA family sits. Vicat softening temperature is 148.3°C as printed and 150.5°C after annealing, measured to ISO 306. After a 30 minute anneal at 100°C the material hits a heat deflection temperature of 107.6°C at 0.45 MPa under ISO 75.
It still prints like PLA
This is the part that matters for most users. HT-PLA Pro runs on a standard FDM printer with no enclosure and no hardened nozzle. It is validated at speeds up to 300 mm/s and uses PLA-style settings: a 230°C nozzle and a 25 to 65°C bed.

Price and availability
HT-PLA Pro launches in 18 colours at an MSRP of $25.99 (€25.99). For anyone printing jigs, brackets, enclosures or car parts that live near a hot surface, it is the most capable HT-PLA Polymaker has shipped.
The big question with any "pro" filament is whether the upgrade is real or just marketing. On the data Polymaker published, the toughness jump is large enough to matter. Standard HT-PLA parts snap when dropped. This one is built to take a hit.
