Polyuse raised $7.7M from Mizuho Bank and Shoko Chukin Bank to scale its Polyuse One construction printer and build out AI-powered site management.

Japanese construction technology startup Polyuse has closed a $7.7 million credit facility from Mizuho Bank and the Shoko Chukin Bank, bringing the company's total funding to roughly $35 million. The announcement lands eight months after Polyuse raised approximately $18 million in a Series B equity round led by Globis Capital Partners.

What Polyuse Builds

Polyuse develops the Polyuse One, a large-format 3D printer designed for construction sites. The machine layers specialized mortar from 3D data to produce concrete structures and formwork automatically. It folds for transport and sets up on site without dedicated infrastructure, which matters when working in tight urban environments or on public works projects with strict access windows.

The company claims over 300 completed construction projects, mostly in public works. That track record is notable because construction 3D printing has struggled to move beyond prototypes into recurring paid work. Polyuse is one of the few companies that can point to a substantial installed base.

What the Money Is For

Polyuse says the credit line will fund continued development of the Polyuse One, expand deployment into new regions, and strengthen its broader business infrastructure. The bigger strategic bet is Physical AI: a system that collects data from every print on site and uses it to continuously refine the printing process. The goal is to turn the Polyuse One into a platform that learns from each job rather than a static tool that repeats the same motions.

Construction 3D printing has been gaining momentum in Japan, where an aging workforce and labor shortages have made productivity gains a national priority. Large format concrete printing can reduce the number of workers needed on site, cut material waste, and compress timelines for certain structural elements. The Polyuse One is purpose-built for that context: portable, field-ready, and designed to operate with a small crew.

Why It Matters

A credit facility from major Japanese banks signals that Polyuse has moved past the speculative stage. Mizuho and Shoko Chukin are not writing checks to experimental hardware startups without a clear path to revenue. Polyuse's 300-plus project track record and its Series B backing from Globis give the banks a basis for confidence that did not exist a few years ago.

The Physical AI angle is also worth watching. Most construction 3D printers today are essentially motion platforms controlled by G-code files prepared ahead of time. If Polyuse can close the loop between on-site performance and algorithmic improvement, it would create a moat that pure hardware competitors do not have.

The Japanese construction 3D printing market is small but concentrated, with companies like COBOD and emerging domestic players all chasing the same pool of progressive contractors. Polyuse's bank backing gives it a longer runway than many of those competitors, most of whom are still funded by equity rounds alone.
