Prusa began shipping INDX conversion kits and opened orders for complete CORE One+ (Gen 2) printers with the multi-tool system, offering 4 or 8 tool configurations.
Prusa Research has started shipping the first batch of INDX conversion kits for the CORE One+ (Gen 2) and opened orders for complete assembled printers with the multi-tool system included. Buyers can now choose between 4-tool and 8-tool configurations, either as a fully assembled machine or a kit for self-assembly.
INDX is Prusa's approach to multi-material and multi-color printing without the usual complications. The system uses eight independent toolheads, each with its own heater and nozzle. Prusa says the tool change time is roughly 12 seconds from the last extrusion of one material to the first extrusion of the next, measured on the actual model. That speed comes from removing the purge tower entirely and priming the nozzle outside the print area.
The CORE One+ (Gen 2) with INDX also includes features like induction heating for fast nozzle temperature changes, a dynamic dual-drive gear system that adjusts grip based on the loaded material, and an accelerometer. The printer uses a loadcell mesh calibration system and eddy current toolhead offset calibration with ambient noise cancellation.
Waste handling is another area Prusa targeted. The system forms waste and priming pellets that can go directly back into a filament extruder without grinding or pre-processing. Only 13 milligrams of material are needed to fully prime a toolhead, which Prusa claims is one-fifth of the previous best in class.
For owners who already have a CORE One+, INDX conversion kit orders are open again. There are separate versions for the CORE One+ and the CORE One+ (Gen 2), so buyers need to match the kit to their specific machine. Prusa also opened orders for the CORE One L+ INDX conversion kits and assembled L+ printers, expanding the upgrade path beyond the standard CORE One+ chassis.
INDX first appeared in a Founders Edition that went to early adopters. Prusa made hardware changes after that run, including a more open front panel, new belts and pulleys, and regular firmware updates. The current shipping version reflects those refinements. Several creators have already posted first impressions of the Founders Edition online, though Prusa notes those units differ in some hardware details from what ships now.
The CORE One+ (Gen 2) with INDX enters a market where multi-material desktop printing is becoming crowded. Bambu Lab's toolchanger system and the Snapmaker U1 both aim at the same problem: switching materials or colors mid-print without stopping for long purge sequences. Prusa's differentiator is the tool change speed and the closed-loop waste recycling, though real-world validation will depend on how the system holds up over months of use in typical home workshop conditions.
Prusa has not published a price for the complete CORE One+ (Gen 2) with INDX. The product pages list configurations as assembled or kit, with 4 or 8 tools, but require account login for pricing. The INDX conversion kits for existing CORE One owners are also available through the Prusa store.
