The INDX toolhead upgrades the Prusa CORE One+ with four independent nozzles. After nine months as a DIY kit, it now ships as a pre-built printer in 14 SKUs.
Prusa has stopped treating the INDX toolhead as a DIY-only experiment. The four-nozzle upgrade for the CORE One+ now ships as a complete, pre-assembled printer in 14 different configurations.
The INDX first appeared as a limited DIY kit nine months ago. That release let experienced users convert their existing CORE One+ into a four-nozzle multi-material machine. Demand was strong, but the barrier to entry was high. You needed to disassemble the printer, route extra wires, and calibrate four toolheads by hand.
The new ready-to-run SKUs remove all of that. Prusa sells the INDX either as a standalone toolhead assembly that slots into an existing CORE One+, or as a full machine built and calibrated at the factory. The lineup covers single-material prints, multi-color workflows, soluble support material, and high-temperature applications.
Why does this matter? Four-nozzle printing has lived in the enthusiast space for years. Most users never attempted the conversion because the risk of breaking a working printer outweighed the benefit of extra colors. By packaging the INDX as a finished product, Prusa is betting that multi-material printing is ready to go mainstream.
The price points start at a premium over the base CORE One+, but the complete machine includes everything you need in the box. No extra harnesses, no firmware flashing, no calibration marathon on day one.
For anyone who watched the INDX rollout last year and waited for the pre-built version, this is the moment. The SKU range means you can pick the exact configuration for your use case instead of buying more capability than you need.
The launch comes alongside PrusaSlicer 3.0 preview, which adds multi-plate jobs and plug-in support. Prusa clearly wants the hardware and software sides of multi-material printing to feel as polished as a standard single-nozzle setup.
