Prusa Research pushed a mid-summer refresh across its high-end lineup, adding nozzle wipers, new belts, and faster toolhead alignment for existing owners.

What changed

Prusa Research rolled out a summer refresh for its high-end printers. The XL, CORE One, and CORE One L all get "+" badges and a handful of hardware changes aimed at print quality and daily usability.

The most visible upgrade is the integrated nozzle wiper. It clears filament residue before each print starts, which cuts down on stringing and small blobs carried onto the first layer. Paired with new GT1.5 belts, the printers also suppress fine moire patterns on large flat surfaces.

On the XL+, the biggest mechanical change is a 360-degree cooling system borrowed from the MK4S and CORE One series. More even airflow around the nozzle means better overhangs and sharper bridges. A permanently mounted eddy-current sensor replaces the old pin-based tool offset check, and Prusa says it aligns toolheads about 20 times faster.

CORE One changes

The CORE One+ (Gen 2) and CORE One L+ share the wiper and belt upgrades, but the Gen 2 model also gets a redesigned heatbed mounting. For materials that print at 85 °C or lower, Prusa removed the separate "Absorbing heat" wait. That alone can shave several minutes off startup time.

The snap-on top panel on the CORE One L+ makes internal access easier. No tools required. The automatic vent underneath is also more robust.

Upgrade path

Existing owners are not left behind. Prusa is selling complete upgrade kits for the CORE One+ first, with CORE One L+ and XL+ kits arriving near the end of August. Individual parts will also be available in the web store. Current unshipped orders will automatically upgrade to the new versions at no extra cost.

Prices stay the same despite the added hardware. The INDX automatic toolchanger is still coming to the CORE One+, and a new HT Hotend for the enclosed lineup is expected in September.
