Shoulder Innovations signed an exclusive US deal with ALM Ortho to produce patient-specific 3D printed titanium implants for complex shoulder reconstruction.

Shoulder Innovations, Inc. has secured exclusive U.S. rights to ALM Ortho's additive-manufactured titanium implant technology for upper-extremity applications. The partnership creates a new option for severe shoulder deformity and complex revision cases that currently have no adequate treatment path.

Standard off-the-shelf shoulder implants often cannot match the specific anatomy of these difficult cases. ALM Ortho addresses that gap by designing and manufacturing implants on a case-by-case basis using patient imaging data. Each device is built to the individual's geometry before delivery to the surgical team.

Under the agreement, Shoulder Innovations will use its surgeon network and sales organization to identify suitable cases and connect surgical teams with the ALM Ortho solution. ALM Ortho retains responsibility for design, manufacturing, and delivery of the devices.

Rob Ball, CEO of Shoulder Innovations, said the collaboration bolsters the company's broader offerings to the shoulder surgical care market. He noted it addresses a real unmet need for patients and surgeons facing these complex cases. The company expects the new capability to drive improved patient outcomes and yield strategic advantages as its commercial engine continues to grow.

The partnership arrives as 3D printed titanium implants gain traction in orthopedics. LimaCorporate operates an on-site AM facility at the Hospital for Special Surgery for custom complex orthopedic implants, and individual cases elsewhere have already shown how bespoke AM devices can succeed where standard hardware fails.

Financial terms were not disclosed. Shoulder Innovations holds exclusive U.S. upper-extremity rights, while ALM Ortho continues to serve its other markets and applications.
