A crank-driven card shuffler is more involved, but the mechanism is small enough to finish in a few hours. The original design has been refined by the community after users reported skipping cards. The fix is usually minor: tweak ramp angles or add a touch of grip with a different filament.
Walking engine
Print a cam-driven walking engine and you get a lesson in kinematics for the cost of a few grams of PLA. These models run slowly and deliberately. They are also forgiving of minor layer issues because the motion absorbs small imperfections.

Print mechanical parts at slightly lower speeds than normal. Better layer adhesion means stronger pivots and less slop. Use PETG or ABS for anything with moving contact surfaces. PLA can work for low-load parts, but it wears quickly where two surfaces rub.
