Stratasys has launched its first new large-format FDM system in three years, with Toyota and Rivian already installing the F870 at their manufacturing facilities.

The first new large-format FDM machine from Stratasys in three years

Stratasys has officially launched the F870, a large-format FDM 3D printer built for factory floors. The machine targets industrial manufacturers, automotive OEMs, and aerospace and defense production lines that need tooling, fixtures, and end-use parts at scale.

The F870's build chamber measures 1000 x 610 x 610 mm and is fully heated. Stratasys is positioning it as a low-cost-of-ownership option within its class, supported by a materials lineup that includes Nylon 12CF, ASA, ABS, and a new entry called FDM ABS Draft in gray.

Toyota and Rivian are already using it

Toyota Production Engineering has installed the F870 at its Georgetown, Kentucky facility. Rivian Automotive has placed one at its Plymouth, Michigan site. Both companies are using the printers for factory floor tooling and manufacturing aids, according to Stratasys.

Dallas Martin, Additive Manufacturing Engineer at Toyota North America, said: The next challenge is expanding its use across more applications. The F870's combination of build size, material performance and industrial features aligns with the kinds of manufacturing needs we're looking to address.

Built for real production environments

Rich Garrity, Chief Business Unit Officer at Stratasys, described the F870 as a very unique solution that demonstrates the company's advanced manufacturing expertise and understanding of customer demand for additive manufacturing solutions that produce larger tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing aids on the factory floor.

The F870 debuts ahead of the IMTS show in Chicago, where Stratasys will showcase the system alongside its broader materials and software portfolio.
