The FilaDC i10 uses a molecular sieve system to control humidity at room temperature instead of baking spools. Pre-orders open September 15 at $199.99.

A Different Answer to Damp Filament

Every FDM printer owner knows the sinking feeling of pulling a half-used spool off a shelf and hearing it crackle during extrusion. Hygroscopic materials like PA, PETG, and TPU pull water from the air, and once they absorb moisture, prints turn into stringy messes. The usual fix is a heated dryer. That works for rehabilitating a wet spool before a print, but it is not ideal for long-term storage. Prolonged heat can soften filament and warp spools.

SUNLU and INSLOGIC's new FilaDC i10 takes a different approach. Instead of heating the filament, it dries the air around it. A molecular sieve circulates through the chamber, trapping moisture at room temperature. When the sieve saturates, a small PTC heater drives the water out of the system and the sieve resets for another cycle. The filament never sees high heat.

Capacity and Specs

The i10 holds up to ten 1 kg spools across two internal shelves. Each slot accepts spools up to 200 mm in diameter and 67 mm wide, which covers the vast majority of consumer filament. External dimensions are 395 x 300 x 508 mm, and the unit weighs 6.3 kg. It can stack with a second i10 if you need more capacity.

Humidity setpoints run from 10% to 45% RH with a claimed accuracy of plus or minus 5%. The display shows 10% to 90%. Temperature on the screen reflects chamber conditions, not a target the unit actively reaches. Noise stays below 30 dB, which is quiet enough for a home office. Surface temperature caps at 30C for safety. Power draw during dehumidification is just 1 W; regeneration uses 100 W; standby draws 0.2 W or less.

Pricing and Availability

Official prices are $199.99 in the United States, EUR 199.99 in Europe, GBP 179.99 in the United Kingdom, and CAD/AUD 289.99. Pre-orders open on September 15, 2026 through SUNLU's official store. The company has not announced the exact pre-order price yet, but the product page teases a number below the final retail figure.

Until then, a $1 Early Access Pass secures a $10 discount code. The pass is non-refundable and capped at 5,000 reservations. It runs from August 14 through September 14.

How It Compares

Traditional filament dryers use heated chambers to drive moisture out of the filament directly. That works, but it requires moving spools in and out of the dryer every time you change materials, and continuous heat is not great for filament that sits for weeks between prints. The i10 is designed to stay running in the background. You load spools once, set your target humidity, and let the cabinet handle the rest.

The catch is that the i10 only manages humidity. If a spool has already soaked up significant water, you still need a conventional dryer to fix it before putting it back in the cabinet. The i10 prevents the problem; it does not solve it once it has happened.

The Bottom Line

At $199.99, the FilaDC i10 is priced competitively against purpose-built filament storage solutions. The molecular sieve approach is genuinely useful for anyone who keeps more than a handful of spools on hand. The 10-spool capacity is enough for most serious makers, and the energy use is low enough to leave it running continuously. If you have ever watched a print fail because you left a spool on a shelf too long, this is a practical answer.
