Tripo AI closed a $447M Series B and B+ round to expand its 3D-native foundation models, with a preview of P2.0 that generates quad-topology meshes.
Tripo AI has closed approximately 3 billion yuan, or about $447 million, across its Series B and Series B+ funding rounds. The raise was led by MPCi and includes strategic investors such as Perfect World, BlueFocus, Yanqu Games, and ThunderSoft.
The announcement coincided with the preview release of Tripo P2.0, the company's latest 3D-native foundation model. Tripo says P2.0 is the first in the industry to natively generate quad-topology meshes, which use four-sided polygons instead of triangles. Quad meshes are generally easier to edit, rig, and animate, making them more useful for game development and real-time production.
Compared to the earlier P1.0 model, P2.0 raises the triangle mesh limit from 20,000 faces to 50,000 faces and introduces quad topology up to 25,000 faces. The model also accepts up to four reference images to reconstruct geometry, producing more reliable side and rear surfaces than single-image generators. Generation time ranges from 10 to 40 seconds depending on polygon count.
The funding will accelerate development of 3D-native foundation models, expand computing infrastructure for AI training, and fuel product commercialization. Tripo AI operates under VAST and is headquartered in Hong Kong, with roots in Beijing.
Racing to Build the Infrastructure for AI 3D
Tripo's raise follows a rapid fundraising pace. The company raised $50 million earlier in 2026 from Alibaba and Baidu Ventures, then pulled in nearly $200 million in extended Series A rounds by June, and another 1 billion yuan-plus in July. The latest round pushes the total raised in 2026 well past $750 million.
The capital is flowing into generative 3D for reasons beyond making cool models. Synthetic 3D assets are increasingly used to train embodied AI systems, build virtual reality environments, and pre-populate game worlds. Investors are betting that 3D-native foundation models will become as essential to spatial computing as language models are to text.
Rival Meshy AI raised nearly $400 million in July at a $1.5 billion valuation, and Google acquired Common Sense Machines in January 2026. The category has moved from a research curiosity to a serious infrastructure play in under two years.
Tripo P2.0 Preview is available now through Tripo Studio, with single-image generation offering two free runs per user. Multi-view input requires a subscription. A full P2.0 release is planned with additional stability and control features.
