Visitech's new LRS 8KA Laser 405 light engine delivers over 30W of optical power, doubling output from its previous LED-based system for larger 3D print beds.

Larger Build, More Power

Norwegian DLP light engine manufacturer Visitech has developed a new 4K light engine specifically for additive manufacturing. The LRS 8KA Laser 405 is a native 4K DMD unit that doubles the power output of the previous LED-based LRS McX 4K, delivering more than 30W of optical power in image.

Using Visitech's optical actuators, the new module combines multiple laser diodes to deliver more than 30W of optical power. The system addresses more than 35 million pixel positions per exposure. This means a single light engine can cover a larger print bed, rather than requiring multiple units working in concert.

Built for Industrial Scale

The new unit comes with Visitech's LAMA Standard software and the LUXBEAM Additive Manufacturing Application (LAMA) control software, designed from the ground up for manufacturing with 3D printing or lithography. The software can emulate projectors, allowing users to test before building through virtual projector simulations.

The system is designed to be easy to service and calibrate before use. Visitech continues to push innovation in tools for massive 3D printing systems and high-throughput production. The company's CEO, Øyvind Tafjord, previously noted that they developed a version of a light engine with no Chinese parts whatsoever, a move that proved prescient given recent tariff concerns.

The new light engine targets applications where DLP and SLA systems need to scale beyond current build volume limitations, supporting large-format and high-volume additive manufacturing.
