XJET is launching a service bureau for ceramic and metal parts in September, giving smaller firms access to nanoparticle jetting without buying a machine.
XJET will start offering a 3D printing service for ceramic and metal parts this September, removing the need for companies to buy their own Carmel Pro system just to try the technology.
The new XPARTS service runs from XJET's facility in Rehovot, Israel, where the company already benchmarks customer applications on several Carmel machines. According to XJET, the setup is already productive enough to serve customers globally, with room to add more machines later.
How the process works
XJET uses nanoparticle jetting to deposit metal and ceramic inks with voxel-level control. A soluble support material lets the printers produce internal channels and thin walls that would be impossible with powder bed fusion. The four-channel Carmel Pro system can print multiple metals and ceramics in the same build, including precious metals via a dedicated Oro configuration.
The service launch coincides with the final version of the Carmel Pro platform, which XJET says costs 60 to 70 percent less to own than earlier Carmel 5000 and Carmel 1400 systems. A fully automated ink recirculation loop reduces waste, and the modular design lets customers start with one material and add others over time.
Who it is for
XJET is targeting small and medium enterprises, research institutes, and boutique manufacturers that could not justify the capital cost of an in-house metal or ceramic AM system. The company demonstrated the service to key customers, including Israeli metal AM provider Kanfit, at a closed Rehovot event earlier this week.
The move mirrors a broader trend in additive manufacturing: lowering the barrier to entry for high-value materials. While polymer FDM and resin printing have become commodity services, metal and ceramic parts still require expensive equipment and process know-how. A service model shifts that burden to XJET and lets customers validate designs before committing to hardware.
