A free browser tool strips the Bambu-specific code from MakerWorld 3MF files so they open in Cura, PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer, and Anycubic.
The Problem
MakerWorld is the largest library of ready-to-print 3D models anywhere. The catch: many of those files ship in a 3MF format that only Bambu Studio handles cleanly. Open the same file in Cura, PrusaSlicer, or OrcaSlicer and you get errors, missing settings, or nothing at all.
That lock-in frustrates people who own multiple printers from different brands. You find a great model on MakerWorld, but your Ender or Prusa cannot read it without a fight.
The Fix
3MF Sanitizer is a free, open-source browser tool built by TechJeeper Designs. It runs entirely in your browser, no install, no upload to a server. Drop in a MakerWorld 3MF file and it outputs a cleaned version that opens without errors in Cura, PrusaSlicer, OrcaSlicer, Anycubic Next, and other slicers.
The tool strips out Bambu-specific metadata and proprietary extensions that cause conflicts, leaving the geometry, settings, and thumbnail intact. It is on GitHub under myles1663/3mf-Sanitizer.
Why This Matters
Bambu Lab built an excellent ecosystem, but the walled garden approach has limits. Not everyone wants to run Bambu Studio for every print. Some people prefer OrcaSlicer's calibration tools. Others run mixed farms with Creality and Prusa machines side by side. A tool like this gives users real choice without forcing them to abandon the largest model library on the internet.
The broader trend is worth watching. As 3MF becomes the default format across the industry, interoperability tools like this will only grow in importance. Bambu could make this tool irrelevant tomorrow by shipping cleaner files. Until then, 3MF Sanitizer fills the gap.
How to Use It
Head to the GitHub repo or search for '3MF Sanitizer' in your browser. Drag your MakerWorld file in, download the cleaned version, and open it in your slicer of choice. That is it. No account, no cost, no learning curve.
